The Organization is implementing several developmental programmes with the support of various agencies, mainly governmental agencies.
a.      Jawahar Family Counselling Centre
The Centre is being functioned with the assistance of the Central Social Welfare Board, Govt. of India. It is started in the year 1989 with the purpose of developing individual's strength to cope with their problems and issues. The cases generally dealt with are personality issues, behavioral problems, marital problems,   property issues, adolescent issues, developmental problems, etc. Our Counsellors are providing free service to the needy and make necessary follow up to each cases
b.      Jawahar De-addiction Centre
This centre is established by the organization to fight against the evils of drugs, narcotics and alcoholic drinks. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India is assisting this programme. It provides totally free treatment to the addicts of alcohol and drugs. Therapeutic interventions like medication, Counselling to the client and his family, possible rehabilitation services, follow-up initiatives are part of treatment. The Centre is head and shoulders with efficient Doctors, Professional Counsellors, Social Workers and Paramedical staff. The Centre guides its clients to join and pursue in Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) Group which is organized and conducted at hospital premises regularly. Their spouses are motivated to participate in Al-anon Meetings and their children’s in Al- ateen meetings to cope with the problems related to addiction.
C. Jawahar Suraksha Project
AIDS is an epidemic that is spreading rapidly in Kerala State also. At present, there is no cure or preventive vaccine for the disease. Only preventive measures could check the disease. With the assistance of Kerala State AIDS Control Society, the Organization is conducting Targeted Intervention programme in Alappuzha District among female sex workers. Read more>>
D. Jawahar Handicrafts - Wood
A wooden handicraft production centre is managed by the organization. Thirty women are engaged in manufacture of various wooden fancy and utility handicraft items, which are mainly sold through participation in various exhibition programmes. Direct enquiries are also getting from exporting agencies.
E. Jawahar Women’s Hostel
The Organization has been running a Working Women’s Hostel at DB College Junction, Thalayolaparambu, since 1997. It provides safe shelter away from home to low-income working women.
F. Jawahar Self Help Groups
The Centre is assisting and guiding rural women to organize self help groups (SHGs) for their own empowerment and development. At present there are 220 SHGs in the rural areas of Kottayam district promoted by Jawahar Centre. The Centre guides and monitors them as per the norms of NABARD and assists them to avail loans from Bank.
H. Screw-pine Craft Cluster Development Programme
The Organization initiated to develop screw-pine craft cluster development programme in Vadayar village. It aims to the holistic development of persons and families engaged in screw-pine craft. The programme provides design development inputs, marketing facilities, common facility service centre, etc. The Office of Development Commissioner (Handicraft), Govt. of India sponsors the programme. I. Youth Development Centre
With the technical support of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Govt.of india the organization is running a youth development centre for the absolute development of the youngsters. Personality development, leadership development and carrier development are the nitty-gritty of establishing this centre.
J. Road Project:
The Organization is undertaking the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) Programme of Kerala State Transport Project. Our Project area covers Kottayam –Muvattupuzha division of Main-Central Road. It is a World Bank aided Programme
K. Reproductive and child Health Programme
The Organization is acting as the Mother NGO of reproductive and child heath programmes in Ernakulam district implemented by National Rural Health Mission, Govt. of India. Rural health promotion, particularly the mother and child health promotion is the crux of the programme. Read more>>
L. Other Programmes
Fifteen Crèches sponsored by CSWB and KRL are functioning well. Also the Organization recently started Nursery Technique programme of CAPART which is well in function. Beautician courses, PMRY trainings, etc are also undertaking by the Organization.
We are giving a bird’s eye view of the activities done at present by the organization. For more than three decades, the Organization was engaging in multifarious social and developmental activities such as Jalanidhi Programme, developmental and educational programmes, health preservation activities, supply of sanitary latrines, low coast houses, etc.
The activities are spread over at present in four districts and it is our desire to extend the activities all over the state in the near future.
